Did you know? 🧐

March is Arts in Education Month & we're celebrating the power of creativity in our schools!

Our youngest students learn to express themselves through music, color, rhythm, and imagination. Basic classroom or family art projects can spark an interest that grows and develops over the years.

From the first crayon stroke to shining on stage, on the field, or in the classroom, our students are learning skills that last a lifetime! They:
✔ Develop strong problem-solving skills
✔ Improve focus and discipline
✔ Build confidence, collaboration, and communication skills
✔ Spark creativity and innovation
✔ Learn perseverance and teamwork

Arts education isn’t just about a project or a performance — it’s about preparing students for life. We celebrate the arts and the power they have! 🎨🎵

Way to go, Joanna!

Congratulations to Joanna Dunn, Dixon Elementary School's Grandparent Essay Winner! 🎉

It's National School Breakfast Week!

National School Breakfast Week celebrates the important role a nutritious school breakfast plays in helping students start their day ready to learn, grow, and succeed.

Breakfast is so important because it provides:
  • Fuel for Focus:  Eating a whole breakfast improves children’s alertness, focus, and memory.
  • A Stronger Start for the Day:  A healthy breakfast reduces irritability and disciplinary issues, and helps kids get along better with peers. It also helps build positive, life-long eating habits.
  • Readiness for the Journey Ahead: Students who participate in school breakfast programs show improved attendance and academic performance.
  • Sharper Minds to Lead the Way:  School breakfast helps students complete challenging mental tasks and boosts problem-solving skills.

Observed each year during the first full week of March, NSBW shines a spotlight on the School Breakfast Program and the dedicated school nutrition professionals who fuel students every morning! 🫶

WC Area Technology Students Compete at Murray State

Students in Ms. Willett's Engineering Pathway at the WC Area Technology Center recently competed in the Murray State University Engineering Day Competition, a large-scale STEM competition for regional high school students that features over 15 hands-on events, including powered car races, robotics, structural design, and PVC pipe/plastic wrap kayaking.

23 WC ATC students competed in a variety of engineering competitions, including CO2 dragster, survival shelter, engineering design, kayak, and more.

The WC ATC placed in two events:
  • The Kayak Design Team, consisting of Hayden Means, Grayson Wheatley, Brennan Melton, and Cooper Austin, won first place.
  • The Additive CO2 Dragster entry made by Rex Whitsel, Kahner Phelps, and Jameson Newton, placed 3rd.

The E-Day Event is a great way for students to tour the campus, learn more about the Engineering courses at MSU, and connect with faculty, staff, and current engineering students.
